Abstract

物質をナノメートル程度の大きさの粒子にすると,電子状態が大きく変わりその物性が変化することはよく知られている.この意味ではマクロなサイズで非磁性の金属でもナノ粒子にすると磁性が生じる可能性があると考えられる.我々は実験的に非磁性貴金属ナノ粒子の磁性を調べるためにX線磁気円二世性(XMCD)の手法を用いた測定を行い,アクロなサイズでは反磁性金属である金のナノ粒子に生じる本質的な磁気偏極の存在を明らかにした.

It is well known that the materials exhibit different properties due to the change of electronic structure when the dimension of the materials is reduced to the order of nanometer. In this respect, there is a possibility that nonmagnetic metal nanoparticles possess magnetic moments. We have shown experimentally the appearance of magnetic polarization in the nonmagnetic noble metal nanoparticles. Intrinsic magnetic polarization emerging in gold nanoparticles was demonstrated by means of x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD).
