高消光比LiNbO_3光強度変調器の偏光クロストーク抑圧による特性改善 Performance improvement of high-extinction-ratio LiNbO_3 optical intensity modulator by means of polarization crosstalk reduction

Abstract

高消光比LiNbO_3光強度変調器の出力に偏光子を挿入し,偏光クロストークを抑圧することで特性が改善することを示す.実験に使用した変調器では,DC消光堵は25dB以上改善した.しかしながら,搬送波抑圧両側波帯変調時には,偏光クロストーク以外の要因が搬送波抑圧比を制限することを観測した.

We demonstrate that dc extinction ratio can be improved by reducing polarization crosstalk in high-extinction-ratio LiNbO_3 optical intensity modulator. Observed improvement was more than 25 dB for the modulator used in the experiment. However, for double sideband suppressed carrier modulation, other factor limits carrier-to-sideband ratio.
