Abstract

カテキン類摂取で体脂肪が低減されることが報告されている。しかし,これらの研究は中・壮年層で軽度肥満の者を被験者としているものがほとんどであり,若年層での研究はほとんど見当たらない。そこで,4週間に亘る高濃度茶カテキン飲料の摂取によって体脂肪低減効果が得られるかについて,研究の趣旨を説明して同意を得た健康な女子大学生を被験者として検討を試みた。その結果,BMI,体脂肪量および体脂肪率は有意に低下し,とくに体の部位別の体脂肪率では体幹部が有意に低下した。また,体年齢,ウエスト周囲径も有意に減少し,体重あたりの基礎代謝量は有意に上昇した。これらの結果から,とくに生活習慣病で問題となる腹部脂肪(内臓脂肪)が減少し,生活習慣病予防に対する効果が期待できると考えられた。

It has been reported that body fat can be reduced by consumption of catechins. However, most of the studies reported so far were conducted with middle- or prime-aged volunteers suffered from mild obesity, and studies with young volunteers are rare. We examined whether a four-week intake of a drink enriched with catechin might reduce body fat in healthy young female college students who gave informed consent for participation in the study. We found that the body mass index, body fat mass and body fat percentage, particularly in the trunk, were significantly reduced by the intake of tea catechin. In addition, the body age and waist circumference were also reduced significantly, and the basal metabolic rate per kilogram weight were increased significantly. These results suggest that the intake of green tea catechin can reduce abdominal fat (especially visceral fat) , which is closely related to so-called lifestyle-related diseases.
