抄録

In this paper, we estimate the effect of the relative changes of income level and class consciousness on life satisfaction level based on the empirical studies by Laslett(1971), Clark and Oswald(1996) and Ferrer-i-Carbonell(2005) etc., using the large-sized internet survey. From the estimated results by ordered probit, it is shown that the relative changes of the socio-economic variables such as income, wealth and class greatly affect individuals' life satisfaction level as well as the absolute changes of variables. Especially, "Rising of class consciousness compared with past" and "Expectation of improving living standard" has a big influence on life satisfaction to both man and woman.
