本研究では、これまで公教育における障害児への教育の機会が提供されなかった、中央高地の紅茶農園地域のハットン教育事務所管内に焦点をあて、近年の障害児の教育の発展の実態を明らかにし、発展の理由について社会開発の観点から若干の考察を加えることを目的とする。

The purpose of the present research is to identify the present situation of Tamil medium special units for children with disabilities attached to the regular school in the three educational divisions, all in the tea plantation areas, of the Hatton Education Zone. It also aims at clarifying the reasons for the recent openings of these special units in the area from a social development perspective.
