Abstract

"The purpose of this study was to consider effects of differences of bathing environment and care system on routine care work in nursing home. We investigated the work volume and the work activity of care staff before and after the induction of bathing facilities responding to personal baths and one-on-one care systems. The amount of walking every 10 minutes was measured as was the work volume with the portable acceleration meter, the location and action of care staff every minute was measured as was the work activity with no-participant observation. The temporary increase of work volume with care staff who took charge of directing dwellers to bathroom under collective care system was reduced. As a result of the reduction of work volume, routine care was improved, and it resulted in an increase of intermission for care staff."
