Abstract

Forgeability of magnesium alloy AZ31B (Mg-3%Al-1%Zn) is investigated by upsettability test on AC servo-controlled press at elevated temperature. The slide speed and motion of AC servo-controlled press are controlled by servo motor. When the AZ31B billet is compressed with decelerating motion of the punch at the temperature of 200℃, the ductility is improved and it is possible to compress the billet without cracking up to the reduction in height of 70%.
