抄録

The Kyoto University Museum, established in 1997, has been putting emphasis on openness of the museum to the public. To make tax-payers understanding the importance of the museum's mission, including collecting, storing, and maintaining invaluable specimens and cultural heritages as well as curating them for research and educational purposes, it is necessary to open museum's door more widely to the citizens and provide them with various opportunities for life-long learning. Through such activities, we can expect the citizen's proper understanding and support for the museums important missions. Here I report our ten years experience in supporting citizen's life-long learning, including planning and operating public events, making original learning programs in cooperation with specialists of museum learning, webbing network with people and organizations cooperating with us.
