Abstract

Young neet and part-time jobber are increasing, because the employment system is changed by the coming of aging society with fewer children and the change of structure of economy and industry. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology takes this situation seriously, and begins to attempt the enhancement of the career education. This paper investigates and analyzes current status of career education in elementary school and junior nigh school. The results showed that although children and students recognized the merit of vocational training in career education, they were not quite satisfied with the length of training time and the kind of occupation they can choose. Furthermore, the result revealed that consecutive career education from the elementary school to the junior high school was not carried out very much. We proposed the use of integrated study in common with elementary school and junior high school and explored the ideal way of the career education in the elementary school.
