This study investigates technological capability and its building process in Chinese Dies and Mold Industry through comparison with Japan. We miss technological assessment of Chinese Dies and Mold industry based on the same standards. Dies and Mold are significant tools to manufacture parts that its makers have established complementary relationship with Automobile and Electronics industry as customers. We need to introduce the views from its customers in order to understand technological capabilities in Dies and Mold industry. The data used by this study were collected during fiIed survey in Japan and China, which adopted such common standards as Lead Time, Manufacturing Precision, and Processing Materials. This study finally explores several factors to develop technological capabilities in Chinese Dies and Mold industry.
