- 2739 Effects of Warm Microshot Peening on Surface Characteristics of High Speed Tool Steel
抄録
More recently, new media have been developed to enhance the peening effect. The media, called fine-particle or microshot, are smaller and harder than the conventional one. The use of new media is effective for the hard material such as tool steels. In the experiment, a compressed air-type microshot peening apparatus with a heating furnace was produced experimentally. The peening microshots, 0.1mm in diameter, were made of cemented carbide, and the workpieces were made of high-speed tool steel. The pressure of air was in the range from 0.4 to 0.8MPa. The surface roughness, residual stress, and hardness of the peened workpieces were measured. The effects of processing temperature on the surface characteristics by warm shot peening were examined. The use of hard microshots was shown to cause a significantly enhanced peening effect for high-speed tool steel.
