抄録

We cannot prevent occurrence of natural disasters. However, damage can be reduced by improving hardware and software mitigation measures. It is very important for people to know refuge places and locations of various hazaeds. In this study, community disaster preparedness workshop editing maps in Ube city was examined to indicate its effectiveness for disaster awareness. Simple GIS software was developed for community citizen groups to share information of local refuge places and sites at various hazard. Participants of the workshop evaluated the software to indicate meeting the needs of people and ways to be improved.
