Abstract

This paper investigated that the type of interorganizational product development system, production system and transaction system of foreign automobile companies in China had affected on how most of the first-tier and the second-tier suppliers selected suitable places for their transfers of international division of production. The result of research is as follows. First, as FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co. Ltd. set up an integral type of interorganizational product development system, a modular type of interorganizational production system and an open type of interorganizational transaction system, most of the VW's first-tier and the second-tier suppliers didn't make inroads into China. Second, as Tianjin-Toyota Motor Co. Ltd., set up an integral type of interorganizational product development system, an integral type of interorganizational production system and a closed type of interorganizational transaction system, most of the Toyota's second-tier suppliers didn't invest in China, while the first tier suppliers made investment in China. Third, as Beijing-Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. set up an integral type of interorganizational product development system, an integral type of interorganizational production system, a closed type of interorganizational transaction system, most of the Hyundai's first-tier and the second-tier suppliers made investment in China. The implication of this research is the first-tier and the second tier suppliers' foreign direct investments are affected by the type of automobile company's interorganizational product system, production system and transaction system.
