Large three-dimensional (3D) domains (0.3×8.0mm^2 for the largest one) of a colloidal crystal were obtained by sedimentation of charged polystyrene particles. The domain size increased with decreasing the sedimentation rate. A SEM micrograph of a cleavage surface of the crystal showed that the domain was really three-dimensionally large. The sedimentation of the charged particles was effective at fabricating a large 3D colloidal crystal.
