抄録

A mass of the sphaerocerid fly, Thoracochaeta johnsoni (Spuler), breeding in Oyaster shells abandoned near oyster farm frequented human dwelling in Musiake, Okayama Prefectre, Honshu, Japan. The affected dwelling were located 200-1,000m far from the disposal site on the seacost. The problem caused by this new nuisance was mainly concerntrated in May. The biological investigation was carried out for finding the effective control of this small fly. Organophosphate insecticide of fenitrothion was sprayed on the disposal site in April before emergence and this treatment resulted in redusing the number of flies came out in May.
