Abstract
We have experienced a Stage IV Wilms tumor patient. The tumor was chemotherapy resistant although the pathological specimen showed favorable histology. Surgical resection was performed for a lung metastatic lesion after several cycles of chemotherapy. Pathological examination revealed that most of the metastatic nephroblastic cells carried differentiation potency. Complete remission was achieved after high dose chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell support followed by surgery, and the patient has remained in remission for more than 12 months. This case provide a information on the treatment strategy for a relapsed Wilms tumor with the favorable histology.
