Abstract

固体表面に吸着した分子に働く摩擦は,表面への分子の吸着過程や表面拡散過程のダイナミクスに関わる非常に重要な物性であり,分子運動の寿命やエネルギー散逸とも密接な関係がある.さらにその機構解明と制御は,分子デバイスの開発や機械摩擦低減等とも関連する.本研究では,超音速分子線を用いてエネルギー制御した希ガス原子を分子吸着表面に照射したときに引き起こされる分子の拡散を解析し,表面吸着分子の摩擦を観測した.

The friction of molecules adsorbed on a surface is very important property since it is related with dynamics of adsorption and diffusion of molecules, lifetime of molecular motion, and energy dissipation from molecules to the surface. The control of the friction is related with development of molecular devices and the reduction of mechanical friction. We observed the friction of molecules adsorbed on surface by analyzing the experimental data about the molecular diffusion, which is induced by the collision with rare gas atoms whose energy is controlled with supersonic molecular beam technique.
