Abstract
This study examined how Japanese university students think about connection between study activity in university and their future occupation and whether consciousness about the connection is related to their adaptation from the view point of ideal and perceived connect situation. Three hundred twenty five university students completed a sheet of questionnaire consisted of Scale of Consciousness about Connection between Study and Occupation, the Occupational Readiness, the Goal Consciousness and the Passivity in the area of study and class . Ideal and Perceived connection score were calculated by two subscales resulting from factor analysis for the Scale of Consciousness about Connection between Study and Occupation. Based on the ideal subscale scores, two types of consciousness about connection between study and occupation were yielded (Ideal group and No-ideal group). Ideal connection score of Ideal group (M=31.83) was significantly higher than that of No-ideal group (M=24.83). Correlation analysis suggested that there were negative relation between discrepancy score between ideal score and perceived score in Ideal group and score of occupational readiness and goal consciousness (r=-.72〜.52) and positive relation between the discrepancy score and passivity in the area of study and class (r=.43〜.58). However, such relations were not seen in No-ideal group. These results suggested that consciousness about connection between study and occupation may have important role for adaptation to university in Ideal group.
