Abstract
We investigated and developed a physical approach to promoting arts and crafts activities. In our approach, children relax and teachers communicate in a way that children can have a good feeling. We interviewed professionals in art educational fields. We took into consideration what they said in order to develop short exercises and stories and then explored their meaning and potential. From the view point of music, the creative music in these exercises were composed after careful thought of the range that children can sing and created on the basis of the phonological properties of Japanese. At the beginning of the process, we thought up words concerning the drawings and crafts. Then we attached movements appropriate to the words. When we did a practical evaluation, we considered the timing and the necessity of doing this evaluation carefully. As a result, we found that we could have an ideal class environment after we had carried out an exercise in the class efficiently.
