抄録

Since an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) can measure both vertical velocity profile and water depth, it has high potential for measuring river discharge. However there are no well-established ways for river-discharge measurements with the ADCP. In the present study, we try to examine the accuracy and fundamental performance of the river-discharge measurements by using a moving ADCP. The field tests with the moving ADCP were conducted in the Edo River under low- and flood-flow conditions. The observed results indicate that the moving ADCP has high accuracy for the river-discharge evaluation. It should be also noted that the discharge evaluation are significantly influenced with the treatment of moving bottom velocity which exceeds 0.2m/s in flood flow conditions.
