Taylor microscale Reynolds numbers R_λ and one-dimensional energy spectra of the velocity fluctuations in turbulent channel flows are analyzed by using direct numerical simulations with friction Reynolds numbers up to Re_Τ=1280. Special emphasis is put on the dependence of R_λ on the distance from the wall and Re_Τ.
