Abstract

For sustainable cultivation of agriculture products, cultivation process should be sensitively controlled based on the accurate sensing information of plant vigor. This paper represents the potentials for the applications of electromagnetic waves in the region of X ray to THz wave, that could be non-destructive, chemical free, rapid and easy sensing methods, to plant vigor evaluation in agricultural fields. Especially, the applications of infrared rays are paid considerable attentions from the viewpoints of the Research & Investigation Committee on Infrared Radiation, The illumination Engineering Institute of Japan.
