Abstract

Congenital heart disease was found in 20 cases (6.1 %) of 326 adult (over 12-month-old) cattle necropsied at University of Miyazaki between 1979 and 2009. During this period, other 15 anomalous hearts of adult cattle were submitted to our laboratory for detailed examination. Among these 35 hearts, there were eight cases of ventricular septal defects. Double-outlet right ventricle occurred in five cases and all of these hearts were associated with ventricular septal defects. Four hearts showed pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defects. Three hearts showed coronary artery cameral fistula and two showed transposition of great arteries with ventricular septal defects.
