Abstract

ミラーニューロンシステム(MNS)は観察した他者の行為を脳内で表象する働きを持ち,他者の行為理解の基盤になると想定されている.最近のfMRI研究により,MNS関連領野(下前頭回など)は目的や意図などの高次の行為の理解に関与することが報告されている.本研究では,他者のインタラクションを観察する際に,MNS関連領野が文脈の違いによる活動変調を示すかどうかを調ペた.実験では,二人の人物のインタラクション場面を想定した映像を使用した.一方の人物は要求者であり,二つの物体からひとつを取って渡すように要求を出した.もう一方の人物は応答者であり,その要求に一致する物体(一致条件)もしくは不一致の物体(不一致条件)を差し出した.半数の映像では要求者と応答者がともに画面上に現れたが(二人条件),残りの映像では応答者のみが画面上に現れた(一人条件). 実験参加者は映像を三人称視点で観察して,応答者の動作が要求に一致しているかどうかを判断するよう求められた.fMRIの結果は,左IFG(BA45)を含む領域での交互作用効果を示した.この領域では,一致条件に比べて不一致条件で有意な活動上昇を示したが,このような活動の差は二人条件に限られていた.以上の結果は,左 IFG が社会的文脈に応じた行為の理解に重要な役割を果たすことを示唆する,

It is assumed that the mirror neuron system (MNS) plays a fundamental role in understanding actions of other individuals, because it represents observed actions in the observer's brain. Recent studies have shown that the MNS areas (e.g., inferior frontal gyms [IFG]) are related to high-level action understanding such as understanding of goals and intentions. In the current study, we investigated whether the activity in the MNS areas is modulated by the differences in the context of the observed interactions between other individuals. We used movie clips depicting the interaction between two persons: one person (requester) requested the other person to pass one of two objects; the other person (responder) then passed the object that was congruent (congruent condition) or incongruent (incongruent condition) to the request. In the half of the clips, both the requester and the responder appeared on the screen (two condition), and in the other half of the clips, only the responder appeared (one condition). Participants were required to observe the clips from a third-person perspective and to judge whether the responder's actions were congruent or incongruent to the requests. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) showed the interaction effect in the brain region including the left IFG (BA45); the magnitude of activation in the incongruent condition was significantly higher than that in the congruent condition, but this difference was found only in the two condition. These results suggest that the left IFG plays an important role in understanding of an action, depending on social contexts.
