抄録

本稿は, 英語分裂文の総記的含意を巡る議論を概観し, (i)否定分裂文における総記的含意, (ii)分裂文の焦点に生じる焦点下接詞, 及び付加下接詞と総記的含意の却下可能性について, 実際の談話から収集した分裂文を詳細に分析し, 英語分裂文の総記的含意は, 会話の含意であることを明示的に論証するものである｡

This article deals with the exhaustiveness implicatures of cleft constructions in discourse. The main points argued here are (i) that Halvorsen's (1978) claim that the exhaustiveness implicatures of clefts should be conventional implicatures cannot be tenable; (ii) that the exhaustiveness implicatures can be cancelable in some of negative cleft sentences and clefts with focusing subjuncts only, just ; and (iii) that the exhaustiveness implicatures appears to beconversational implicatures rather than conventional ones.
