Abstract

We demonstrate the generation of intense monocycle THz pulse from a dielectric crystal excited by a tilted-pulse front ultrashort laser pulse. The generated THz pulse has maximum electric field above 100kV/cm, which approaches to the typical internal field in the material. This pulse also drives electrons, ions or molecules impulsively in anharmonic region, which can induce macroscopic motions essential for new material properties.
