Abstract

Consumer safety (safety on consumer product and consumer service) is discussed based on safenology. Here safenology is a new comprehensive systems of learning concerning safety, which includes engineering and science aspects and may be complementary by sociological, ergonomical and psychological approaches. As an example, a suffocation accident caused by jelly made from konnyaku is picked up and studied from a stand point of safenology, that is from technical and science aspect, from administrative aspect, and human factor aspect. Finally relationship between safety and peace of mind is described.
