「昇り核」はこれまで弘前,青森,雫石など東北各地で報告されてきたが,琉球諸方言を除き西日本には報告例がなかった。本発表は鳥取県鳥取市の青谷(あおや)方言,および湯梨浜(ゆりはま)町の泊(とまり)方言を,昇り核を持つ方言として記述することを提唱し,この地域にあらたに昇り核のn+1型アクセントの体系が発達している現状を報告する。さらに本稿では,青谷周辺の地域(鳥取市の気高(けだか),湯梨浜町の長和田(なごうだ),別所(べっしょ))における1～4モーラ名詞の調査データに基づき,この地域のアクセントが,次のような特徴を共有していることを報告する。(a)助詞が連続した場合,その連結点にあらたな核が発生する。(b)1つのアクセント単位に2つ以上のH音調が隣接して連続する場合は,最初(左側)のH音調が優先的に出現し,その後ろ(右側)のH音調は弱化する。これらの特徴は,東京方言にも見られる。この事実に基づき本稿では,一見したところ表面の音調型については東京と異なるように見える鳥取県のこの地域のn+1型体系が,実は東京方言といくつかの点で共通していることを示す。さらに,上述の(b)の特徴は,他のアクセント体系(少なくとも同様なn+1型体系)において共通して見られる,アクセント体系の一般的特徴である可能性も示唆し,日本語の方言アクセントの記述研究にあらたな課題を提示する。

The purpose of this paper is to show that the accentual system of the dialects of Aoya and Tomari is an n+1-type system with a 'rising' kernel, which developed from the kind of system observed in nearby areas in Tottori such as Kedaka, Bessho, and Nagouda, in which accent is marked with a one-mora H tone. The paper further argues that the accentual systems of all these dialects show the following features: (a) A boundary between consecutive particles is marked with an inserted accent. (b) When two or more adjacent H tones occur in an accentual phrase, all of the H tones except for the leftmost are changed to L (HH→HL), due to dissimilation. The paper then proposes a generalization, based on the fact that these features are also seen in the Tokyo dialect: the features described above, especially (b), are basic characteristics observed in a number of other accentual systems in Japan.
