Abstract
This paper discusses the framework of the activity system that plays a role to create culture in the age of networking when people voluntarily cooperate, and offer their resources, and participate in collaborative activities in order to solve various social issues. First, this paper outlines the theoretical background and development of Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) as the key to understanding the relationship between networking of activity systems and cutural creation. Second, it introduces an after school program, "La Clase Mágica," which is one of the fifth dimension project sites in the United States, and "Yawata children's conference" in Japan, as the examples of collaborative learning practice based on the concept of CHAT. These cases are also analyzed by using the framework of expansive learning proposed by Engeström. Finally, these cases will be discussed as a clue to networking of activity systems and building learning community for cultural creation.
