Abstract

NCS剤注入法による防除効果を検証することを目的に,防除事業が行われた林分でのカシノナガキクイムシによるコナラとミズナラの被害状況を防除前後の2年間調査した。被害を受けた個体の割合はコナラが高かったが,枯死率はミズナラの方が高かった。コナラは2年連続して加害された個体の割合が高く,ミズナラは2年連続して加害されなかった個体の割合が高かった。防除後に激害・枯死した被害木の約9割が前年に被害を受けていない個体であった。防除域で防除前に被害を受けなかった個体は,非防除域よりも防除後の枯死率が低かった。これらのことから,NCS剤による防除に枯死率を下げる効果があることと,防除林分でもこれまで報告された非防除林分での結果と同様に,前年被害を受けていないミズナラに被害が集中することが判明した。

We investigated the damage by <i>Platypus quercivorus</i> on <i>Quercus serrata</i> and <i>Q. crispula</i> trees for two years before and after NCS chemical control in order to verify the effect of the chemical control. Although the ratio of the attacked <i>Q. serrata</i> trees was higher than that of <i>Q. crispula</i> trees, the mortality rate of <i>Q. crispula</i> was higher than that of <i>Q. serrata</i>. Many individuals of <i>Q. serrata</i> were attacked for two successive years, and <i>Q. crispula</i> had a high ratio of individuals that were not attacked in two years. Nearly 90% of the mass attacked and/or dead trees found after the control had been applied had not been attacked before the control was applied in either species. After the control had been applied, the mortality of trees that were not attacked before the control was applied was lower than the mortality of trees in the stand without the control. These results indicate that the NCS chemical control decreases the mortality of trees. The results also demonstrate that the mass attack occurs on <i>Q. crispula</i> trees that have not been attacked in the previous year, which is consistent with the results of preceding studies done in unmanaged forests.
