Abstract

We determined nitrogen mineralization in top soil under the field using the resin core method. We installed incubating columns which were made from soil and ion exchange resin cores into soil surface during one year in the field. Rate of mineralized nitrogen was calculated from nitrogen contents in soil and resin cores after incubation. Nitrogen contents in the soil collected after incubation were small and it was neglect for progress of nitrogen mineralization. Nitrogen content in the soil was lower than those of in the ion exchange resin. Those results suggest that measurement of nitrogen mineralization in the field was available using resin core method. Annual amounts of mineralized nitrogen in this study were 20.6 to 55.6 kgN ha-1 yr-1 and ratio of mineralized nitrogen to organic nitrogen was 1.4 to 5.2%. Estimated amounts of mineralized nitrogen from A0 horizon and surface soil and the ratio of ammonium nitrogen to total inorganic nitrogen contents were higher in the soil at the ridge site than those of in the upper slope site. At the ridge site, it was also cleared that the ratio of nitrogen amounts supplied from A0 horizon was higher than those of in the upper slope site.
