Abstract

Recently a wireless LAN (WLAN) system based on the IEEE802.11n standard such as a WLAN router and an access point with high output power and high speed data transmission has become popular. Compared with the conventional IEE802.11a/g/b standards, the IEEE802.11n standard achieves data transmission speed five times faster than them. The paper discusses the indoor propagation characteristics in an office environment by the practical measurements and the numerical simulations. In order to confirm the validity of the measurement results, large-scale FDTD simulations are carried out for the two cases of the room with and without furniture. We will clarify effects of furniture related to the indoor propagation from the numerical results. As a result, we propose an effective means of modeling indoor propagation channels based on numerical simulations.
