- G205 Image Measurement of Water Droplets in Cathode Electrode of PEFC Based on Background Subtraction Method
抄録
In order to alleviate water flooding in polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs), it is essential to understand the fundamental phenomena of liquid water transport in cathode electrode of operating fuel cell. This study presented a novel imaging technique for quantitatively evaluating the liquid water droplets discharged from the cathode gas diffusion layer (GDL) of a PEFC using background subtraction method. Furthermore, the current density distribution in the cathode was measured using segmented cell structure concept, and the water balance in the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) was investigated. It was found that the liquid water distribution on the cathode GDL surface has the maximum value in the midstream region of the counter-flow fuel cell.
