Micro-/nano-sized materials have received much attention lately, both in terms of their multiple applications and their biocompatibility. From both viewpoints, understanding the biodistribution and bio/cyto-compatibility is very important. To estimate their cytocompatibility, the nano-particles were exposed to osteoblast-like cells. In this study, the micro-/nano-ceramics particles indicated good cytocompatibility, except for copper oxide nano-particles. In addition, these particles did not clearly show a "nano-sizing" effect. CuO particles only show the effect as the cell inflammation caused by the increase of the contact probability with the distribution density increase.
