Abstract
Spatial structures are required not only to protect peoples and property they accommodate during an earthquake but also to serve as shelters after earthquakes in many cases. In the recent earthquakes in Japan, the damage such as the fall of ceiling materials, finishing materials and lighting equipments have attracted greater attention than the structural damage to spatial structures. From the results of damage investigations, it has been reported that the function as a refugee facility to the structure, once finishing materials of the roof fell, is lost even if there is no great damage in structural members, such as main frames. Consequently, it is necessary to investigate and propose an efficient evaluation method for determining the seismic performance in consideration of the damages of not only a major structure but these secondary components. As an index showing economical loss, a seismic loss function FsL used in the research field of Seismic Risk Assessment is adopted. On the other hand, a functional loss probability PFL is adopted as an evaluation index to functional maintenance.
