In the current seismic design of beam-column joints, longitudinal reinforcement ratio of beam and bond condition are considered to be important factors for preventing joints from failure. However, it is still not clear if there are the other factors having influence on the strength of the joint. In this paper, the effect of factors for failure conditions of the beam-column joints are studied by analysis using macro element. The investigated factors includes the distance of the longitudinal bars in the beam, bond strength, axial force of the column, aspect ratio and the longitudinal reinforcement ratio of the beam and the column. It was found from the parametric study that the longitudinal reinforcement ratio of column has large effects on joint failure than ones in beam in the joint with weak beams and strong columns, while the longitudinal reinforced bar distance in the beams are also influential factors.
