In this research the traditional lattice shear wall was studied about the long term influence of the clearance. As a first step, mechanical model was introduced to explain the influence of initial gap, and it was confirmed by conducting joint rotational test with different size of initial gap as a parameter. As a result rotational properties were well expressed by the model. Initial stifihess became smaller as the size of initial gap become larger. Yield moment and secondary stiffness were influenced by the gap as well. Then shearing test of lattice wall was performed. Four times of the test were performed on the same specimen during a year in the extent of elastic region, and the change of shear property was measured in accordance with increase of gap size on each joint with reduction of moisture content. Test result were compared to the simulated result in which gap size on each joint were distributed with variation. They showed veiy good accordance. At the same time, test result was compared with calculation by the standard equations. Calculated result also showed good agreement with the test result to some extent by adjusting the factors used m the equations, however difference between them become larger as increase of gap size. Consequently it was suggested that current standard may need to be modified considering the influence of initial gap.
