抄録
This study is focused on the behavior of a microwave discharged atmospheric pressure argon plasma jet. In order to elucidate interrelationship between the plasma jet and working gas or ambient fluid, we intentionally-controlled the working gas and evaluated the plasma jet behavior. The periodic excitation at the jet shear layer was introduced by using a slot device which has rectangular holes connected loud speakers. These holes were placed symmetrically. Simultaneous visualization of plasma jet and working gas were conducted in two typical excitation modes; symmetric and asymmetric mode. The plasma jet and ambient gas was directly captured by a high speed digital CCD camera, and then the spatial and temporal motion of plasma jet was analyzed by image processing on personal computer. As a result, it was found that the both of behavior of ambient gas and plasma jet drastically changes in accordance with the excitation modes. The working gas jet column is stable without excitation. On the contrast, the symmetric excitation leads to axisymmetric vortex ring near the nozzle exit, it causes the plasma jet stretching in the streamwise direction. On the other hand, the asymmetric excitation causes the meandering motion of the gas jet in the direction of sound wave irradiation.
