Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to report implementation in humanities and social science classes, which aims toimprove students' abilities for problem solving and problem search. Problem-solving and problem search areessential and valuable skills in the world of work. For this reason, Seminar on Humanities and Social Science B("JINBUN-SHAKAI KAGAKU ENSHU B"), as a subject to develop students' problem-solving and problem searchabilities, is opened for the 3rd year students. We introduced GIS (Geographic Information System) to the class, as atool to foster these abilities of students. The class is composed by lecture and exercise. Students can learn not onlyhow to use GIS software, but also how to solve problems and search problems.
