Abstract

Since the early 2000s, the population of the core area in Osaka city has increased at a great rate. We took a questionnaire survey of residents living in a district in the core area of the city. In the result of our survey, we point out some current status of the local community under the re-urbanization. First, the social status of new condominium owners are higher than these of old residents. Second, most of new condominium owners hope residing permanently and want to participate the local community. However, they do not participate the activities of neighborhood association. We guess that one of the reasons is lack of communication between old residents and new comers living in apartments.
