Reduction of HP inlet loss is quit important to improve the performance of HP steam turbines. In this paper, the loss generation mechanism in separation flows around the blockage of a partial admission stage is discussed using the 3-D and the 2-D high-order high-resolution numerical methods developed by our group. Compressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the high-order high-resolution finite-difference method based on the fourth-order compact MUSCL TVD scheme, Roe's approximate Riemann solver, and the LU-SGS scheme. The SST-model is solved for evaluating the eddy-viscosity. Unsteady three-dimensional flows through half-arc nozzle-rotor cascade channels considering a partial admission are numerically investigated. 54 nozzle passages with two blockages and 30 rotor passages are simultaneously calculated. Entropy distributions around the rotor blades and the blockage regions are numerically predicted.
