This report presents the story of a hearing-impaired woman in the United States, Heather Whitestone Mccallum, who was elected Miss America 1995. This report summarizes her activities until winning the title of Miss America through a literature review. It also considers how her writings, behavior, and way of living influenced hearing-impaired persons and women's studies around the world. Considerations will include not only the issues of welfare for disabled persons, the author's field of study, but also social policy and the viewpoint of gender.
