The formation and hardening behavior of L1_0-type ordered β' phase in as-solutionized dental Ag-Pd-Au-Cu alloys was investigated by changing the cooling rate, solution treatment (ST) temperature and ST time. The microstructure of the β' phase changes with the changing of cooling rate, ST temperature and ST time, thereby playing different hardening effects on the as-solutionized Ag-Pd-Au-Cu alloy. It is of great significance to reveal that the β' phase precipitates in the Ag-Pd-Au-Cu alloy during cooling process after ST and the growth of the β' phase is diffusion controlled.
