A major cause of pulse transit time calculation error comes from the pulse wave's reflected wave, which is said to occur at arterial branches and peripheral vessels. The purpose of this study is to evaluate qualitatively the reflected wave generation phenomenon at arterial branches. Focusing on the arterial branch near the elbow joint, we have built a model of the blood flow using fluid-solid coupled simulation, and analyzed the effect of the reflected wave to the shape of the arterial branch (real model and symmetry model) and the diameter of the blood vessels after the branch. We could verify that the pulse wave reflectance due to arterial branch is proportional between real model and symmetry model independently from the influx amount, and that it becomes bigger as the diameter of blood vessels after the branch is thinner.
