抄録

This paper describes a trial for realizing smart structures which will be effective for mitigation of disastrous ocean waves such as tsunami. Tidal wave diminishing forests have attracted attention for high mitigation effect on the tsunami caused by the Tohoku earthquake in 2011. However, forests, that is, density and placement of trees, stem diameter and many other parameters cannot be optimized. In order to cope with these problems, smart wave mitigation structures which consist of arrays of structural material bars have been proposed. In this study, experimental models using arrays of aluminum alloy rods and are arranged in two ways and under the parameters of their densities and number of rows have been made and tested. The water flow velocity and level, flow reduction effect and fluid behavior through the models were investigated, and the following results were obtained. 1) When the lattice spacing is small, a large reflected wave is generated in front of the cylinders and a hydraulic jump is caused behind them. These phenomena are thought to contribute to the reduction of water velocity and level. 2) In the case of the cylinders arranged in the hound's tooth, the water velocity and level reduction rates are higher and more stable as compared to those arranged in the square lattice pattern.
