- S0520204 Numerical simulation of the flow field in a thickener and the consideration of the slurry model

Non-Newton fluid is utilized for many kinds of industrial products. Moreover, a slurry flow in HPAL method is typical Non-Newton flow and has shear stress overshoot in the low shear rate region. It is well known that the Bingham and Casson models are treated as the Non-Newton fluid. However, these models do not have the shear stress overshoot. In this study, the authors carry out the flow simulation in the Thickner of the HPAL method by three kinds of Non-Newton fluid models using ANSYS14.0/ANSYS CFX14.0. As a result, we visualized the interaction of two kinds of flow, such as around the lake and near the inlet, by the new Non-Newton model considered with shear stress overshoot.
