We explored to measure the melting point of metal nanoparticles of Pt as a function of the particle size. Isolated multiwalled carbon nanotubes were used as an electric resistive heater to control the temperature of nanoparticles that were deposited on the nanotubes. The phase transition from solid to liquid was determined by the structural change from polyhedron to sphere, which was observed by a transmission electron microscope. The temperature of nanoparticles was measured from optical emission spectra from the nanotubes that were detected by an optical system installed in the transmission electron microscope. The result was discussed by referring the simulation results reported so far.
