To reduce greenhouse-effect gas; trans-esterified vegetable oil 1s already applied to diesel engine, but finally "neat" vegetable oil is expected to be directly used resolving some difficulties such as its high viscosity or slightly high fuel consumption. In this study neat linseed oil also showed higher fuel consumption than diesel fuel, but at the same time showed lower indicated fuel consumption. This suggests some increase of engine friction, then "improved Deceleration Method combined with N2 gas injection to engine" had been developed to measure the engine friction. And it also confirmed the higher fuel injection driving torque caused by high viscosity of neat linseed oil than lower viscosity of diesel fuel.
