Turbo-blower is used as a variety of applications such as dust collection and air conditioning plant in general. However, the generated noise is causing the deterioration of the room acoustics and environmental issues. Therefore, the clarification of generation factors and the decrease of the noise are requested. There is a gap in a turbo-blower between an inlet (stationary part) and an impeller (rotational part). And there is a re-inflow flow by which the circulating flow in a casing re-inflow into entrance of impeller through this crevice. Therefore, it is thought that re-inflow caused turbulent flow noise. The present study intended that search for turbulent flow noise sources in a centrifugal turbo-blower. First, by changing a lap size and measuring noise, it investigated about the influence which a lap size has on noise. Next, we examined flow with flow visualization of lap. Re-inflow which flows into the lap section was able to be checked. Finally, to measure the turbulence of the entrance of impeller with a hot-wire anemometer to explore turbulence noise sources large volume range. And we examined pressure fluctuation around entrance of impeller. By enlarging a lap size, it turned out that the pressure fluctuation of a broadband decreases. From these, it was possible to reduce turbulence noise.
