This paper proposes a vibration control approach of PC case by introducing the smart structures technology to suppress the vibration due to the internal disturbances. In this paper, an active vibration control system using H-infinity control theory is used to suppress the vibration. Since the locations of the actuators greatly effect on the control performance of smart structure, they are optimized to achieve high control performance by the simulation using FE-model. Particle swarm optimization is used as the algorithm of the optimization, and the optimal locations which minimize the objective function are sought. In this paper, the number of actuator is one or two, and the optimization simulations are carried out in both cases. The vibration control experiments using the optimized actuator locations which are obtained from the optimization simulation are also carried out, and the results are evaluated. As the result, the control system using the optimized actuator locations shows high control performance, and the control system using two actuators achieves higher control performance than one actuator. From these results, the proposed control system and optimization method are effective for suppressing the vibration of PC case.
